Brooke has been working continuously and exclusively in the criminal arena for 30 years in various capacities.
Brooke was previously a prosecutor in both New South Wales and then Queensland for a number of years prior to becoming a Defence Lawyer in 2006.
Brooke has worked extensively in both metropolitan and country New South Wales and then for the last 18 years on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane. Brooke focuses his skills on Criminal Law and is a specialist in Traffic Law and Domestic Violence Law (acting for both Respondents and Aggrieved).
He has had extensive experience in both the Magistrates Courts in Queensland and also the Local Courts in New South Wales. Brooke has represented many people in the District and Supreme Courts of both Queensland and New South Wales, and in the Court of Petty Sessions and Supreme Courts in Tasmania.

Allanah completed her double degree of Bachelor of Laws with Honours and Bachelor of Business majoring in Business Management at Griffith University in 2013 before going on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with Bond University in 2014. She was later admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of Queensland before joining the team at Brooke Winter Solicitors.
Before becoming a solicitor, Allanah completed her Honours Thesis on Marriage, De facto Relationships and the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth). She excelled at university having received academic excellence awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She completed work experience as a legal student at various family and criminal law firms on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, including Brooke Winter Solicitors, and completed her practical legal training at a boutique law firm on the Gold Coast. During these periods, she dealt with a vast range of family and criminal law matters and gained invaluable experience in these areas. She has also worked on many Legal Aid cases as well as sensitive cases involving domestic violence.
Allanah is highly dedicated to assisting all her clients by providing tailored legal advice, assisting in family law negotiations and settlements, drafting court orders and affidavits, appearing in court and advising clients on police charges and investigations (such as Fair Trading, Workcover, Centrelink and other statutory bodies). She understands that each client matter is unique and deserving of the same personal, meticulous care and attention. Her aim is to resolve matters as harmoniously as possible for the benefit of her clients however she is committed to achieving the best result even if that means taking a matter to court and fighting for that result.
Shelby Thompson is a Solicitor at Brooke Winter Solicitors, having joined the firm initially as a Law Clerk while she completed her Practical Legal Training, and obtained a permanent position as a Criminal Law Solicitor. Shelby is admitted to practice as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
Shelby completed her law degree while living abroad in countries including Canada, USA, New Zealand, Cambodia and Samoa before returning home and quickly finding her passion working in Criminal Law, Child Protection and Domestic Violence.
Shelby is an accredited Criminal Duty Lawyer and also an accredited Domestic and Family Violence Lawyer. She can be found providing these services assisting client on a weekly basis at various Magistrates Courts.
Shelby’s advice and representation is tailored to each and every individual client – as no client or matter is the same. She has a fundamental belief that every person involved with the criminal justice system deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. Shelby will fight fearlessly for your rights which is reflected by the outstanding results that she receives for her clients.
Shelby has experience appearing before Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts in a number of jurisdictions including Southport, Brisbane, Beenleigh, Rockhampton, Maroochydore, Cairns, Mackay, Lismore, Tweed Heads and Coolangatta.
Stephanie completed her Bachelor of Laws at Griffith University before going on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Bond University on the Gold Coast.
Stephanie has been passionate about criminal law since she was in High School and was drawn to the area upon completing legal studies which lead her to joining our team at Brooke Winter Solicitors. During her studies at Griffith University, she participated in the Innocence Project which allowed her a rare opportunity to work on wrongful conviction cases.
Stephanie completed her practical legal training with Brooke Winter Solicitors before she joined the team as a law clerk. Upon her admission as a lawyer in the Supreme Court she became one of our Solicitors. She works in Criminal Law, Traffic Law, Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence, and she appears daily in court in all jurisdictions for clients (Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts).

Dayne, a graduate of Griffith University with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, is driven by a deep passion for criminal law. Having excelled at his previous firm, Dayne brings experience navigating complex criminal law cases, and domestic violence applications stemming from family law matters. Dayne’s nuanced approach is shaped by years of legal education and practical experience, ensuring a compassionate understanding of sensitive legal issues. Notably, Dayne also holds a Bachelor of Music, showcasing his diverse interests.
Dayne’s professional journey also includes a role as the Gold Coast Coordinator at My Community Legal, where he played a key part in community outreach and legal advocacy, highlighting his commitment to justice.
Dayne’s dedication to achieving positive outcomes for clients aligns seamlessly with the firm’s ethos. As an emerging Criminal Law Expert at Brooke Winter Solicitors, Dayne has a regular presence in courts throughout Queensland and NSW, diligently advocating for his clients.
Lydia completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Marketing at Western Sydney University, Bachelor of Law at Southern Cross University before going on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with University of Technology Sydney. She was later admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Before becoming a solicitor, Lydia owned and managed a leading women’s fitness centre, Fernwood Fitness, achieving her certification as a Personal Trainer and Kick Boxing instructor. Making the decision to leave the fitness industry and pursue a career within the Law, she worked within the Criminal, family, Civil, Commercial, and Wills & Estates Litigation areas of law in firms Sydney.
Lydia is an accredited Domestic and Family Violence Lawyer. She can be found providing these services assisting client on a weekly basis at
various Magistrates Courts.
