He has been working continuously and exclusively in the criminal arena for nearly 25 years in various capacities. Brooke was a prosecutor in both New South Wales and Queensland for a number of years prior to becoming a Defence Lawyer in 2006.
Brooke has worked extensively in both metropolitan and country New South Wales and then for the last 12 years on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane. He has had extensive experience in both the Magistrates Courts in Queensland and also the Local Courts in New South Wales. Brooke has represented many people in the District and Supreme Courts of both Queensland and New South Wales, and in the Court of Petty Sessions and Supreme Courts in Tasmania.
Brooke completed his schooling on the Gold Coast and then completed a degree in Business Management (BBus) from Griffith University on the Gold Coast. He then concentrated his studies in the area of law and completed his Law Degree (LLB) with the University of New England (Armidale). Brooke then went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) with the Australian National University in Canberra. Brooke is admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland, the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory, and the High Court of Australia.
Brooke has extensive experience in dealing with Australian Police investigations, and also investigations by other statutory and regulatory bodies such as the Crime and Corruption Commission and the Australian Crime Commission (CCC and ACC hearings). Brooke has a passion for advocacy and has particular skills in trials, pleas and also complicated bail applications. Brooke has had extensive experience in both the adult and juvenile jurisdictions.
